Hi, my name is Hania.
I was born in 2018 as a healthy, strong and big girl. My parents with my sister waited for me a lot and now they are my greatest happiness and love. When I was 5 months old, I began to be tormented by delicate and very subtle “tics”. My mother was very concerned about this very much. After the first tests, it turned out that the results were unfortunately not good. My world hadn’t changed yet at the time, but my parents’ world broke into a thousand tiny pieces. My parents are my heroes. They are fighting along with me as equals, and my little sister is bravely supporting them.
My “tics” turned out to be epileptic seizures. I don’t understand exactly what it means, but I know very well that it is a difficult opponent that affects my proper development. I exercise as much as I can every day. My relatives say I fall a million times and still I pick myself up again with a fierce look. I need the care of many therapists (neurologists, physical therapists, psychologists, sensory integration therapy and others). I benefit from rehabilitation holidays and various supportive equipment.
My disease is not fully diagnosed, although many very expensive tests have been done, e.g. genetic, metabolic tests. I need more tests all the time. I’m on a special diet, because the medications I was taking made me very quiet, and it was only after I stopped taking them that my development slowly moved forward. I even know how to take a few steps already, which is always accompanied by loud cheers and the joy of my heroes. My parents wait all the time for my first word. So, I exercise stubbornly even though I don’t always feel like it or have the strength, especially when the illness doesn’t let up and difficult days come. My mother says that I am very stubborn, even more than my older sister, and this is strange to me. I think the stubborn ones are my parents, they are the ones who “stubbornly” provide me with all these therapies. So far they have managed on their own, unfortunately the costs are increasing all the time.
