HELP FOR OLAF…

We are parents of 9-year-old Olaf. On his 8th birthday, which we spent in a hospital, we found out about a disease that will accompany us for the rest of Olaf’s life and we are not sure when it will fully attack. This disease is neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2). It causes a lot of tumors around main nerves in his whole body form neurofibromas. As a consequence of it, Olaf might lose his sight, hearing and other.

We know where these issues are and we are treating and maintaining them to react fast if there is an emergency. In the future, Olaf will have to receive hearing implants, support for his eyes and spinal cord. It’s a lot and it’s scary. Currently, we are supporting Olaf according to doctors’ recommendations with various rehabilitations, simulations, and exercises.

Olaf is a very cheerful child and he doesn’t even understand what is going on. We hope that this stage of NF2 will last long, however apart from the hope, we also need to get prepared for a reality that is challenging. We are collecting money for what’s unavoidable. We will be grateful for any support as this disease is not well known and part of Olaf’s treatment will have to be held abroad.
