TO BRING MY DEAREST SON BACK TO LIFE
I kindly ask all people of good will, sympathetic and understanding men, sponsors and donors, for support and assistance in raising funds for treatment and physical rehabilitation of Paweł, who currently is in a coma.
I am the mother of Paweł, born on November 11, 1986 and I am writing on his behalf, because he himself cannot ask for your help and support. On 01.04.2017 Paweł has undergone a severe ischemic stroke of the brain stem with secondary hemorrhage. The doctors define his condition as vegetative state with tetraplegia. His breathing is supported by a ventilator. He is nourished through a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube (PEG tube).
Although, my son got medical help very quickly due to cooperation of ambulance and Polish Medical Air Rescue on his way to Emergency Room, his condition is critical. On the hospital stroke unit we have heard the most dreadful words, that he does not have many hours left… The world stopped for us at that moment.
For two and a half months, when Paweł remained in the Intensive Care Unit, there was a constant struggle between life and death. When one day was moderately stabile, the next one was completely different. Paweł suffered from temperature, urinary tract infection and pneumonia with dangerous pathogen.
A genetic testing was prosecuted to find out, why such a serious stroke have happened to a young man. The research indicated that Paweł has got a mutation in the MTHFR gene and also a thrombophilia. Before 
the stroke, Paweł worked as a van driver and travelled across Europe. He already had fiancée, plans for the future including moving in with her and getting married.
In one moment everything has changed. The most important thing was his survival, one day after another. I told myself and others that the lack of bad news is a good news.
I constantly believe that Paweł will defeat this terrible disease. Some people doubted when I was saying, that he will survive. Because of his illness I suffered from myocardial infarction, but I am needed, so I recovered quickly.
Currently my son is in the Health Care Center. He requires physical rehabilitation in order to liven up the muscles and joints. The Health Care Center provides patients with basic medical attention and nursing. The doctor, according to general standards, comes with a visit two times a week.
I am grateful that he has been quickly admitted to Health Care Centre, because it is very difficult to find a place for mechanically ventilated patients.
Despite all that we have been through for previous six months, Paweł lives and wants to live. I know that we still have a long way to go and there will be a lot of pain and tears on our path. There will be a long and complicated physical rehabilitation, but we will go through this with your help – people of good will and warm hearts, sensitive to the suffering of others.
I believe that the good days are yet to come. Thanks to your help, there is a chance that Paweł will come back to health and his home. “God has put his love into your hands, like the key to paradise.”
